Artful Friday | Week in Review

Belated again, so I’ll back post. Quick WIR in pics! πŸ˜€

Custom portrait baby Gracie Timmerman got a second set of eyes, but she suited the first ones better (oh me & my eye woes) & prepared herself for hair!
IMG_7432

Baby boy Freya (II) Kewy had a partial photoshoot with me, in his adorable knit hat & diaper cover. He’s anatomically correct, full vinyl baby. His torso is the Lincoln Eagles! πŸ˜€

Lane White became Laney Mae (get it? LOL!) Available FINALLY in my shop! She’s a sleeping baby girl, 19 inches long, with barely there painted hair, dewy skin, milia, and rooted lashes! She comes with an adorable Valentines themed red hearts layette! $349 + 4o shipped, if interested! You can also check out her official listing by clicking her pics! πŸ˜€

And my custom, memorial portrait baby Daisy Brown had quite the paint ordeal to start. Paint wouldn’t bake on half of his head. After some time on arc forum (LOVE THAT PLACE) crisis was averted. Started rooting his head of hair! I am in love with this baby & he is so so soooo special to me, being my first custom memorial portrait baby! I am sooo honoured! Isn’t he just so beautiful too? I love him!
IMG_7211

And lastly my custom Valentina Legler! Eyes in, ready for her hair too! Her eyes are topaz. Aren’t they spectacular. Since I’ve already finished her hair, I can tell you she’s even prettier with hair!

Wow Wednesday | Reborner workspaces!

This work space:

I learned all the basics of reborning off Nikki’s tutorials on Youtube, so this peek in is amazing!! Although, I have a hard time with three sculpts at once, let alone 10+! I am in awe of the drying possibilities, however. I’ve already maxed out my blue peg board. I was looking to upgrade to wood, but now I’m thinking drying rack! πŸ˜€

Testimonial Tuesday | Custom Reborn Dolls

Remember this darling face?

juliettab4

I reborn one of the last Julietta sculpts by Natalie Blick, for an avid collector.Β  She was smitten with a Julietta that she’d seen online, with a violet hued lip, and bright blushing. It’s always ALWAYS that much more daunting to reborn for a collector. Esp as a — relative — novice (not sure I can continue calling myself this, almost 50 babies out… LOL!) But I feel like I am still very much a novice in the industry. So you can imagine just how ecstatic I was after Julietta (now Violetta) was finally heading home to a delighted Momma.Β  & even more happy I was to get this, a few days later:

Shaylen is a very patient, kind, and talented Reborn Artist. She is very professional, and a delight to work with. She offers a truly top of the line, custom experience to her reborn Mommies! You can see my Beautiful Julietta, now Violetta, that she made for me on her FB page. Thank you, Shay! I was in awe of Violetta when I saw her. I expected her to come alive at any moment, that’s how real she looks and feels in my arms with all her amazing details, and perfect weight and filling. I can’t stop kissing her little cheeks, and hate to put her down! Her little outfit is just perfect, and matches her to a “T”. Thanks again for bringing my vision of her to life! She is perfect! A+++++ — Ellen

icm_fullxfull.34589622_lglvm14jmhsgc8808k44 icm_fullxfull.34589620_kifz79hmohcsksokgwks

So very, very happy! & I love getting follow-up pics (have I said that enough? LOL!) Look at her, all bundled up! So real indeed! & also, don’tΒ  you love the hair clip? I asked her how she found such tiny hair clips! (because EVERY time I order any, they end up soooo huge!) Want to know her secret? Pet stores. πŸ˜€Β  BRILLIANT!

Thanks again, Ellen! Enjoy your beautiful baby, Violetta! ❀

Edited to add:
Look at these recent pics of Violetta. She suits the headband, doesn’t she? It’s times like these that even though I know I made her, she totally looks like a real baby! LOL!

Artful Friday | Week in Review

So that postal limbo has left me out of sorts with my orders. I’m working on a lot of babies, but right now in no particular order. It’s what I’ve had as I’ve had it. And every baby is still in an unfinished state as of ‘week’s end’ – which NEVER happens. Or, rather, hasn’t happened in the past few months. 😦 First thing this week, I had zero custom order babies to work on. By the end of the week, I have four & tomorrow I’ll FINALLY have the four I’ve been expecting the longest. And then I’ll be buried in babies… But busy is always good – in my book. Workaholic-ism is sorta my thang. πŸ˜‰

So the week in review:
IMG_6060
Finally started on my Fern by Toby Morgan. Emphasis on the MY here. She’s a keeper. I was pretty certain as soon as I ordered her. I will not part with this baby. And she’s on the shelf now til further notice. So lots of time to stew over what to do about her hair.

IMG_6308
My custom order baby Freya (II) by Tina Kewy. Another baby boy, to be named Jack Russell. Isn’t he amazing. Started on his barely there hair tonight. It’s perfect for him!!

And speaking of hair… when I had nothing better to do, I drug out Kameko. Remember him? Tyson Maddox. Root in progress no more. This boy is a combi. I repainted him too. Cuz I’m neurotic like that & I make more work for myself when I should have been sleeping…
IMG_5981

And Lane! This baby Lane by Sandra White, is finally getting colour too! After doing three Leah’s in a row, it was time. Totally a girl, right? Getting barely there hair too. Should have her up in the shop early next week. She’ll be $299 if interested! πŸ˜‰
IMG_6112

Oh & Lilian arrived! I was so so sooooo excited to get her. I’ve really only fleshed, veined & undertoned her. But she’s so beautiful, right? Another custom baby in progress. She’ll be a full root too! πŸ˜€
IMG_6287

And rooting… that Lulu by Jen Printy got yet another pair of eyes. Still possibly just temporary. & I started on her combi hair. Yes, I’ve painted a TON of heads this week! LOL!Β  This is still really, really basic, but I love the start of it. It’s going to be super pretty on her!
IMG_6148

Oh & Raleigh by Marita Winters. She arrived late last night & I started on her straight away! Playing catch-up. Love this baby so much. Mostly finished creasing her already! πŸ˜€
IMG_6322

& lastly (cuz you know, this is turning out to be the longest Artful Friday ever!) Ruby by Natali Blick. She’s such a tiny peanut, at 16 inches. But I adore her. Started on her creases too. And so far she doesn’t have eyes. So behold, creepy eyeless head pic! πŸ˜€
IMG_6278

Should I also mention Meekly came down with flu part deux and spent most of Wednesday & Thursday with a feverish, coughing, vomiting baby in my arms? She’s finally on the mend, and walk-in swears it’s not pneumonia (I’m a bit neurotic too, btw). May next week bring finished babies & healthy kidlets!! πŸ˜€ Emphasis on the healthy kidlets! πŸ˜€

Before & After

I have it on good authority (CP tracking #) that my postal limbo is minutes from being over. In other words: Items are out for delivery (DOING CARTWHEELS WAITING!) & the postal delivery window is nearly shut for the day. I swear I hear UPS as we speak (correction, another snow plow). In the interim. . . Before & After catch-up of the week!

Artful Friday will be up later today or tomorrow. Meekly came down with flu part deux on Tuesday and I spent most of Wednesday & Thursday with a feverish, coughing, vomiting baby in my arms. Today fever is finally low grade & though she’s coughing horribly, walk-in swears she’s on the mend. PHEW!

Testimonial Tuesday | Reborn “Playborn” dolls!

For Xmas, I was commissioned to make four reborn dolls for two different sets of siblings! I was incredibly honoured, knowing just how special these babies would be. And I was just as excited to hear about their Christmas morning, as I was Meekly’s! And goodness, it didn’t disappoint. Here are Shay & Piper in their new home (with their doting Momma’s!)

Shay was the Esmee by Didy Jacobsen & Piper was the Sarah by Philomena Donnely.

Their mom also sent a video, which I won’t post. But goodness, I actually cried viewing it the first few times! I am so so soooo happy they love their babies & they’re already such incredible little Momma’s. Thanks again for letting me be a part of their special Christmas!!! ❀ ❀ ❀

Studio Tour

This post has been in the pipeline for a while. And the space is still mostly unfinished, though I’m happy to report I have a redesigned workspace which I’m in quite pleased with. It’s also a great deal warmer than my last workspace, esp important in the -30 degree weather we’ve been having. With no further adieu, the workspace in progress:

Sneaky chillaxing on the beanbag. Finally caved and got one. Can’t believe I waited so long for one. It’s amazing for photoshoots. & it doubles as a place to play puzzles on the ipad! We have a toy box in here & a few bins of toys to keep them amused to. WFH is a start and stop job. I also break regularly to “read it” (whatever book they have at the moment).

Baby all bundled up and ready to head home. With her haul.

Safe storage and area for drying before bakes… & speaking of bakes!

The oven is in too! (Which, yes, doubles as a cradle/boat for the kiddos! LOL! The office space – so versatile!) Literally couldn’t live without this oven! It’s incredible!

Just a typical day at the office. :p | & polyfil, we has it! I go through so many bags I have to keep at least 4 spares lying around & the kidlets love to build cloud castles with it.

Storage is critical! All the dangerous stuff, glass weighting, iron, spare rooting needles are all in storage bins on the top shelf. | & I am slowly amassing my own baby clothing store. I like to pick up whenever I’m out, esp if I see something unbelievably cute! πŸ˜€

IMG_8095
Hanging out on the shelf, ready to be (re)born!

& best part of my space is I still have heaps of space for toys, books, and drawing areas (because the kidlets have become obsessed with drawing) while I work! Love!

More as this space develops! πŸ˜€

Artful Friday | Week in Review

Despite being in a somewhat postal induced limbo (waiting on sculpts again… 4, ahem, make that 5! LOL!)

I finished this bald baby Amber (II) Moulton for my brother, SIL, & nephew. They’re expecting baby #2 this Spring, and after ruining his vinyl (do not unpack a leg and lay it next to a baby with marker on it) I’d have had to scrap her anyway. Behold. A practice baby brother. (In Sneaky’s old hand-me-downs). ❀ Sneaky named him Matty! What else? (Kid’s hair icon is Matty, the boy in Gingerbread Baby – his still fave book).
IMG_2982

Baby Levi got an eyeball makeover. I think these dark blue eyes suit him, what about you? Took a few more pics of him for good measure. And updated his LISTING. Yuppers, he’s still available for sale, and my last available OOAK baby. *Sniff*
IMG_3510

Because, Patrik Blick, now a Gabriel, found his forever home this week! & his way into a new set of eyes as well. Box packed him this morning and as of tonight, he’s en route home. I’ll miss that boy!
IMG_5022

Baby Lulu Printy looks so much better as a boy, IMO. After mottling, I left her/him on the shelf, before next steps (hair, brows, etc) get considered. Best part about this sculpt? The thumb sucking, of course!!!

IMG_2856

FINALLY revamped my FB cover photos, my logo design (god that was a long time coming, I’ve been hating on it for months now) & will be smacking up the new blog header momentarily. Behold, a chain of babies! And the 3rd one in?

fbcover2

Custom Baby Max, Will by Natalie Scholl.Β  I was so sooooo excited when I got a request to reborn him, because I was a little late on the scene and only learned about the sculpt AFTER he was entirely sold out. It’s a funny thing, what happens when you start reborning seriously (*cough* fall into the obsession), you start getting like “I HAS TO REBORN ALL TEH SCULPTS!” Like to the point that you’re willing to bankrupt yourself when Laura Lee Eagles unveils a new sculpt? Okay, I have Quinnlyn on the brain! LOL!

Digressing, I totally wished I could have reborn a Will Scholl. And guess what? I DID! Rooted, sealed, and a bajillion pictures of him later…

Max

My Max is on the left, Max as inspiration is on the right. So dang happy with how he turned out!

Here he is again… Beautiful, right? He also headed home tonight. Going toΒ  miss him too. But don’t worry, I have my trillion pictures to hold onto! Hah!

IMG_5741

Other eventful happenings of the week: Starting on OOAK baby Fern (by Toby Morgan), Jack Russell (Freya II by Tina Kewy), and insider pics on the proper Pac-Man swirl.Β  CANNOT WAIT TO TRY IT OUT! Thanks, Donna!

Next week I’ve been promised 4 new babies should be with me. Including my first Lilian by Gudrun Legler (def bankrupting myself with Legler kits! LOL!) She’s already promised to a fellow French Canadian. How exciting is that?!

Happy weekend, everyone! πŸ˜€
